My Baby Bucket List!

Yes, I know … this photo is so last year!

As the cooler days turn into cold days and Christmas trees and lights start popping up in neighbour’s front windows, I’ve realized that the weeks we spend as a couple are dwindling down (ALMOST into single digit weeks guys!), and there is so much that I still want to do before this sweet baby gets here. And yes, I totally understand that most of these things can be done with a baby, but I want to savour the last few months as just a married couple by carrying on some of the traditions we have created and doing the things we love to do together.

I started compiling a bucket list way back in the summer, and have slowly added to it as the weeks go on and now I think it’s ready to share!

  1. Go apple picking – Spring Meadow Orchards is our go-to each Fall, their apple cider donuts are the
  2. Visit Pumpkinferno at Upper Canada Village
  3. Carve pumpkins for Halloween!
  4. Experience/witness Queen’s University Homecoming. Walk down Aberdeen St. very likely for the last time.
  5. Go on a walk/hike to enjoy the cooler weather (or snow at this rate!)
  6. Take in a Kingston Frontenacs game (and get nachos of course!)
  7. Decorate for CHRISTMAS!
  8. Spend a day at the spa!
  9. Go to the movies (and watch something other than the new Star Wars because if you know me, those tickets have been purchased for WEEKS!)
  10. Go on all the coffee dates we can possibly have at all our favourite coffee shops.
  11. Wander aimlessly through our favourite shops – especially Michael’s and Home Sense, because soon it will be just a little bit more challenging/time consuming/I probably will just want to get in and out as fast as I can with a darling baby in tow.
  12. Hit up some local craft and vendor Christmas shows – because they are totally my jam and I love support small/local shops (but more on that later!)
  13. Stay at home in pajamas/curled up in bed all day … even better during a snowstorm!
  14. Go OUT for breakfast or dinner at least a few times before February rolls around.
  15. Give so much love and time to our sweet little dog; his life is about to experience a huge change.

Any other suggestions of things to add to my baby bucket list? Would love for you to share!

26 Week Bumpdate!

How far along: 26 weeks!

Gender: Unknown, and gender guesses at the shower were pretty darn even at our baby shower!

Weight gain: Somewhere around the 17lb mark (which is not as bad as I thought!)

Maternity clothes: … are what is comfortable these days. I AM in the market for a nice maternity hoodie so if anyone comes across some ideas, send them my way please!

Stretch marks: Yeah, I see some. Rumour has it that all these creams don’t work but … I’m using them anyways! And hydrating like a mother (actually though!).

Rings on or off: YOU GUYS … they go on in the morning and then I have to wiggle them around a little at night to get them off … eeks.

Belly button in or out: Still in, but I think it’s getting shallower and shallower.

Sleep: Still pretty darn awesome! I really do give credit of this to my sweet Snoogle pillow.

Best moment this week: BY FAR was getting to experience our first baby shower! It was so surreal to have hub’s family gather together to shower us with love and so many wonderful and thoughtful gifts as we await the arrival of our sweet rainbow baby. It just keeps becoming more and more real and soon enough we will have this sweet baby in our arms!

Miss anything: COCA COLA. with all the ice.

Movement: Give me all the baby movement! This tiny human is so very active throughout the day and never lets me forget that he/she’s around! I am suuuuper thankful that he/she hasn’t figure out how to wake me up in the middle of the night ……… YET.

Cravings: I was craving a Panzerotti but that’s only because there’s a restaurant where my husband’s parents live and they make THE BEST panzerotti I have EVER had. But so much happened on the weekend … and I forgot to get one! I suppose I have to wait until Christmas holidays now.

Queasy or sick: NONE. I would hope at this point I would have neither of these.

Aversions: Nothing! Again, I think I am super lucky on this front!

Looking forward to: Our sweet little mini staycation coming up this weekend with the hubs! I absolutely cannot wait to relax for a bit!
Also looking forward to finally setting up the last of the nursery furniture so we can get all these lovely gifts organized and ready!

25 Week Bumpdate!

How far along: 25 weeks!

Gender: Unknown

Weight gain: Still guesstimated at 15+lbs … there is a midwife appointment coming up this week AND I have acquired the pre-pregnancy weight soooo I will definitely know what is up for sure later this week!

Maternity clothes: Have officially become more comfortable than regular clothes (aside from giant sweatpants and hubby’s t-shirts). Thankfully Old Navy has been having some wicked sales, so I stocked up on the basics; more leggings, a pair of jeans (that hopefully don’t fall down throughout the day!), shirts and sweaters. Hopefully enough to help me get through winter! I also invested in a Make My Belly Fit Jacket Extender

Stretch marks: I miiiiight be seeing a few teeny tiny ones making their unwelcome appearance.

Rings on or off: On!

Belly button in or out: In but it looks like it’s is on the shallower end now!

Sleep: Excellent.

Best moment this week: Little did I know that all the Starbucks holiday drinks showed up on November 1st! I may have already had my fair share of Chestnut Praline Chai Tea Lattes and ONE DECAF Caramel Brulee Latte. WORTH. IT.

Miss anything:

Movement: Constantly!

Cravings: Now that Halloween is over, the need for sugary candy has worn off (thankfully!). Still wanting sweet things though, and trying to curb the processed sugar treats for natural sugars.

Queasy or sick: None

Aversions: Nothing!

Looking forward to: This weekend, which is our FIRST baby shower! I know it seems super early, but with family so far away and the holidays coming up (and with that comes terrible weather!!), it was decided to do it sooner rather than later. WHICH I AM TOTALLY OKAY WITH. Can’t wait to see all of my husband’s family!

24 Week Bumpdate!

Happy Halloween friends! I hope you all have a chance to get into the festive spirit! We are a little late to the game buuuut will be carving pumpkins hopefully before the first Trick or Treater comes to our door. And you can bet I’ll be eating pumpkin seeds by the handful (or will it be candy!?)

How far along: 24 weeks!

Gender: Unknown … my gut says GIRL, everyone else says BOY.
Weight gain: Guesstimated 15+lbs (the Halloween-sized chocolate bars are probably NOT helping!)

Maternity clothes: YES. Actually so much more comfy than regular clothes at this point. ALSO, what is it with pregnancy pants not having front pockets!? Do they just assume we will not need front pockets?! I think I will be investing in way more leggings at this point.Super comfy and can be dressed up or down! … I tried on my winter coat and it’s S N U G already! Have to start researching alternatives before the cold weather hits … and STAYS.

Stretch marks: None

Belly button in or out: Still hanging IN there!

Sleep: SO MUCH. I am waiting for the pregnancy insomnia to hit.

Best moment this week: Hubs and I finally knocked Pumpkinferno at Upper Canada Village off our Fall Bucket List (actually has been on our bucket list for a few years now). The night was beautiful and it was such a spectacular display!
Also, GETTING MY FLU SHOT! Not. Actually, I spent that morning taking a little time for some self-care; I normally don’t get the flu shot but I have heard the flu will be bad this year … so I did that in the morning, then treated myself to a white hot chocolate downtown before walking around and window shopping in our beautiful city. It was a great way to just relax and take some time for myself.

Miss anything: S T A R B U C K S  L A T T E S. I KNOW those Holiday drinks will be making their appearance coon. All I can think about are Caramel Brulee Lattes!

Movement: I honestly don’t even know if this tiny human sleeps? Always poking and prodding me. I think he/she likes to hang out on the left side of my belly … of that’s where his/her arms and legs like to hang out at least! I have caught a few glimpses of movement on the outside as well — AMAZING and soooo weird.

Cravings: Anything and everything sweet — trying to consume more fruits than candy. (Seriously though … do I stock up on cheap Halloween candy tomorrow when it’s all on sale or just let it go?)

Queasy or sick: None

Aversions: No food aversions — just smells; cooking eggs and cooking ground beef (BLEH!). I can eat them though!

Looking forward to: NOVEMBER. There is SO MUCH happening — baby showers, CHRISTMAS SHOPPING, and a sweet little  babymoon staycation for hubs and I! If time could just slow down, that would be great!

Hope you all have a great Halloween friends!

23 Week Bumpdate!

IMG_3508 (1)
How far along: 23 weeks!
Gender: Unknown, and the guesses are mixed.
Weight gain: 15+lbs.
Maternity clothes: When I have to … otherwise it’s sweatpants/leggings and sweatshirts for this lady! Also, why is the weather so nice?! GET COOLER ALREADY!
Stretch marks: No
Belly button in or out: In
Sleep: Wonderful. Literally my favourite part of the day. I am certain I am out as soon as my head hits the pillow. Trying to get as much sleep as I can.
Best moment this week: Celebrating our second wedding anniversary! So nice to have a sweet little date night with the hubs. We ate dinner at our favourite restaurant, saved room for delicious dessert and took a quick little stroll around our downtown. Last wedding anniversary we’ll be able to do that on a whim (which makes me a little sad actually)! AND … Little bubs must be working out in there! Lots of movement throughout the day, and especially when relaxing in the evening. Kicks and rolls and whatever else he/she is up to in there! And it is actually one of my favourite (but super weird) things to experience. I LOVE IT.
Miss anything: Sleeping on my BACK! Also, I had to sit down the other day to put on socks? Oh, and I miss remembering things … and making sense. Because that has just gone OUT the window now.
Movement: Yes! See above!
Cravings: With Halloween upon us, I may have bought the smallest bags of Halloween chocolate and candy … and now they are gone. Oops. Random cravings of the week included taco salad from Wendy’s and Rice Krispie squares (which I have yet to make), hot chocolate (Starbucks one is delishhh!) AND SUSHI.
Queasy or sick: Neither! But indigestion likes to pop up every so often …
Aversions: Same old!
Looking forward to: Checking some more things off our Fall Bucket List (which I will share soon because you know, it’s already fall!!), getting a start on our nursery!

22 Week Bumpdate!

Okay this bumpdate is SUPER LATE and lacking a photo – I think life just got in the way and I completely forgot! So, sorry if this is darn boring! I promise all the photos for the rest of this journey.
How far along: 22 weeks!
Gender: Unknown and it is safe to say it will be a surprise until this little bubs comes out!
Weight gain: Well, I thought that I would find out last week at my appointment … turns out my Dr. did not pass on my starting weight to the midwife, so it is still unknown. I would assume 15lbs+.
Maternity clothes: Yup. Anyone have any recommendations for comfy, fairly inexpensive maternity clothing?
Stretch marks: No
Belly button in or out: In
Sleep: I’ve been sleeping pretty soundly through the night. And pretty darn thankful I can do so! I know my days are numbered.
Best moment this week: Hubs felt the baby move! Such a fun and amazing moment. It may have been a fluke though because ever since then, this little bubs will just not move for Dad.
Miss anything: I miss eating deli meat! And not having to question things I am eating. Because I literally FREAK OUT if I’ve eaten something I shouldn’t … I’m sure it’s a FTM thing, but still.
Movement: Yes! Little kicks here and there.
Cravings: Nothing out of the ordinary.
Queasy or sick: Nah – I seem to have gotten rid of this cold though so that’s awesome! Now, have to try and NOT get sick again.
Aversions: Chicken still, the smell of eggs cooking (although I think I have always hated that!)
Looking forward to: Celebrating our wedding anniversary next week!

21 Week Bumpdate!

IMG_3393How far along: 21 weeks!
Gender: Unknown and it is safe to say it will be a surprise until this little bubs comes out!
Weight gain: … perhaps it would be best to not know?
Maternity clothes: Still mainly bottoms … my lounge wear is baggy enough that it still works. I have transitioned to hubs’ t-shirts for sleeping though!
Stretch marks: No
Belly button in or out: In
Sleep: In bed by 10-11pm, up around 7am, unless it’s an early work day! Sleeping right through the night (aside from the 5am washroom breaks!)
Best moment this week: 200% feeling baby move around now!
Worst moment this week: CATCHING A COLD. Being sick is SO not fun. I have no idea what what medications are safe to take, so I just sweated it out. Hot water, lemon & honey, chicken noodle soup and Fisherman’s Friend have definitely been my friends this week. AND ALL THE WATER
Miss anything: Feeling NOT sick!
Movement: Yes! They are definitely not a fluttery feeling … more like little jabs every so often. Can’t wait to feel more!
Cravings: Nope.
Queasy or sick: Just some mild indigestion here and there.
Aversions: Same old. Although I am going to purposely avoid everything extremely salty, garlicky, and full of spice because those are just horrible things to consume for me.
Looking forward to: Midwife appointment later this week … and hopefully planning some fall activities!
Also, I am officially IN LOVE with these dresses from dwell+slumber! One size fits most, buttery soft fabric that is super comfortable, they can be styled in so many ways AND pregnancy and nursing friendly! If you are an expecting mama, I HIGHLY suggest you check them out (although shipping to Canada is a little ridiculous, but there definitely are ways around it!)!

20 Week Bumpdate!

IMG_3267 (1)
How far along: All I can think of for this is the chorus to Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer” – wooooah! we’re [officially] halfway there!
Gender: Unknown and it is safe to say it will be a surprise until this little bubs comes out!
Weight gain: SOON. ugh.
Maternity clothes: Still bits and pieces here and there, especially BOTTOMS! Have to invest in a few more pieces before we go full out with all the maternity wear. Thank goodness for online shopping!
Stretch marks: No
Belly button in or out: In
Sleep: Generally fairly good. I sleep through the night! It’s when I have to take those 4:30am washroom trips and get back into bed and my brain is like, “HA! Nice try. You’re wide awake now.”
Best moment this week:
1. I am about 99% certain that I have FINALLY started to feel “flutters” – I would probably describe them more as like the feeling of gas bubbles! So amazing! I think I have felt a little kick the odd time too! It’s definitely different than anything I’ve ever felt. Can’t wait to feel them more!
2. Our 20 week ultrasound scan was just unbelievable. We got to see our little babe who would hardly stay still! Our US techs were wonderful and explained everything to us!
Miss anything: With all the wonderful moments this week, I couldn’t really miss anything!
Movement: YES! See above!
Cravings: Nothing wild.
Queasy or sick: I think the hot and then cool temps have decided to have some fun with me – might be coming down with a cold. We’ll see what happens.
Aversions: Nothing new – plain chicken, eggs, pickles … oh and mushrooms!
Looking forward to: Thanksgiving weekend! Eating all the mashed potatoes, stuffing and gravy … and hopefully some turkey! Can’t forget all the delicious desserts!

19 Week Bumpdate!

FullSizeRender copy
How far along: 19 weeks!
Gender: Unknown
Weight gain: Also unknown – although I’m expecting to find out at my next appointment in October. Yikes.
Maternity clothes: I brought out a few shirts and tanks this week. Only because they are the only things that are currently comfortable, aside from leggings and sweatpants! And with this current weather, I’m running out of clothing!
Stretch marks: No
Belly button in or out: In
Sleep: Okay … there have been a few early mornings when I’m just -BAM- awake and can’t get back to sleep! Which is really great, when you have to teach all day.
Best moment this week: We picked out our crib, and now it is sitting in its box waiting for the nursery set up to begin! Now to try and find time to do that … still have loads of time right!?
Worst moment this week: Uh, well I ate delicious Vietnamese noodles with spring rolls and fresh vegetables and bean sprouts this week. It wasn’t until after that I discovered you are NOT supposed to be eating raw bean sprouts. So I had a mild (okay no so mild!)
Miss anything: Always missing sandwiches/deli meat/Subway. I almost caved and convinced myself that I could go get one that was toasted, but after the bean sprout fiasco … I think I’ll avoid foods I’m not supposed to eat for a while.
Movement: No 😦
Cravings: Still nothing out of the ordinary for me – apples and oranges. All the time.
Queasy or sick: None at all!
Aversions: … still plain chicken. I have been forcing myself to eat meat. I ate a STEAK this week. Pretty dark quickly but I still ate it!
Looking forward to: Our ultrasound coming up this week! Finishing up this registry! Oh, and also looking forward to hitting up The Baby Show (which, by the time this will be posted, I will have gone to already!)

18 Week Bumpdate!

How far along: 18 weeks
Gender: Unknown
Weight gain: Also unknown – although I’m expecting to find out at my next appointment in October. Yikes.
Maternity clothes: Not really … leggings, baggy tees and sweaters (when it’s cool enough!) are currently making up what I’m wearing these days.
Stretch marks: No
Belly button in or out: In
Sleep: FABULOUS. Work hasn’t quite picked up yet so I am in the wonderful first few weeks of September where I can just sleep in — and TRUST ME that is EXACTLY what I’ve been doing. I’ve heard it sleep becomes harder to come by as you get further along.
Best moment this week: Well, I’ve had my eye on a beautiful knitted blanket I have intended to start for a few weeks now … so I am attempting to learn how to knit! For those of you who know me, I have been an avid crocheter for the last few years. Knitting is a whole other ball (or skein … get it, anyone?).
… I also started incorporating YOGA into my workout routines. Let’s just say it was wayyy more difficult than I thought it would be.
Miss anything: The usual suspects (sushi, deli meat and caffeine). I had this random day when I REALLY wanted a glass of wine, but thats it!
Movement: NONE!
Cravings: Mostly carb-ish items. I did get the nachos I was craving last week this week though! For those of you who know me, food cravings are things that happen to me on a daily basis even when not pregnant so, I don’t think I’ve had cravings that are out of the ordinary. Still rocking quick and easy snacks though!
Queasy or sick: None at all!
Aversions: STILL chicken in plain naked form, and apparently whole olives.
Looking forward to: This HEAT to end. Seriously. I basically have NO clothes that fit comfortably and are suitable for this weather. So if the cooler weather could just get here … like SOON, that would be great!
Thank you all so much for the wonderful comments on my blog and through Instagram about my blog! This is a whole new territory for me and definitely an opportunity to learn so I truly appreciate the love!!
